DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly Family Day at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music\, with FREE museum admission from 1–4 p.m.! \n\n\n\nThis month’s event features special programming in partnership with the American Red Cross Mid-South Tennessee Chapter. This community-centered afternoon offers something for all ages. Enjoy music\, food trucks\, arts and crafts\, games\, and interactive activities throughout the museum campus. \n\n\n\nAs part of the day’s programming\, the American Red Cross will host hands-on stations and educational experiences focused on safety\, preparedness\, and community care. Guests can sign up for free smoke alarm installations and home fire safety education\, participate in interactive classes\, and explore activities designed for both youth and adults. \n\n\n\nBeginning at 1:15 p.m. and continuing hourly\, Red Cross sessions will include: \n\n\n\n\nHands-Only CPR demonstrations: non-certification; focused on awareness and basic skills. For full CPR/First Aid/AED certification\, visit www.redcross.org/take-a-class)\n\n\n\nPrepare with Pedro: a fun and engaging preparedness program for children (K–2)\, focused on basic home fire and earthquake safety\n\n\n\nBe Red Cross Ready: an emergency preparedness session for teens and adults (13+)\, covering emergency kits\, fire prevention\, escape planning\, and more\n\n\n\n\nFamilies can also enjoy coloring stations and activity sheets focused on emergency and disaster preparedness. \n\n\n\nIn addition to these activities\, guests will have access to the full museum experience\, including the lobby\, gift shop\, and lounge\, while exploring Memphis history and the lasting impact of Stax Records. \n\n\n\nCome celebrate with us as we welcome the community and inspire the next generation to discover the music\, history\, and culture that define Memphis— while also gaining valuable tools to help keep your family safe. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEarlier in the day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, the American Red Cross will host a Sound the Alarm event in the Soulsville neighborhood as part of their national Home Fire Campaign. \n\n\n\nDuring this time\, volunteers will: \n\n\n\n\nInstall free smoke alarms\n\n\n\nHelp families create two-minute fire escape plans\n\n\n\nShare critical safety information – Home fires claim seven lives every day in the U.S.\, but working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death in half. This life-saving initiative has already helped save over 2\,500 lives nationwide and installed more than 3.2 million free smoke alarms in high-risk communities.\n\n\n\n\nCommunity members interested in volunteering for Sound the Alarm are encouraged to register in advance—no prior experience needed (training is provided): Click here to sign up.
