The Stax Music Academy’s Alumni Band, 926, named after the iconic Stax Records studio’s South Memphis address, was formed in 2013 as a way to engage Stax Music Academy graduates who were in college but home on summer break.
Now, they are back every Tuesday in June 2-4 pm! Free
Admission for Shelby County residents.
As the band’s popularity grew, they began to play across the country as professional musicians. They’ve opened for Al Green. They’ve performed for hundreds of thousands of people at festivals for The National Council for the Traditional Arts and Memphis Tourism. They’ve performed regularly at Beale Street’s renowned B.B. King’s Blues Club and at our very own Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
