A Summer of Discovery Begins at Soulsville
Throughout the summer months each year, the Soulsville Foundation creates a season of opportunity for students across Memphis. During the months of June and July, our campus and programs come alive with music, exploration, creativity, and hands-on experiences that help young people discover their passions and expand what they believe is possible.
Last summer alone, more than 1,500 young people engaged in Soulsville summer experiences, from intensive music education and free museum visits to cultural exploration and career-building opportunities. For some students, this summer means holding drumsticks for the first time, stepping onto a stage, or finding the confidence to perform in front of an audience. For others, it’s exploring museums, discovering Memphis in new ways, strengthening academic skills, or gaining hands-on experience in careers they never imagined possible. Whether through music, mentorship, cultural exploration, or other summer learning opportunities, each experience helps young people build confidence, discover new passions, and envision brighter futures.
Last year, 80+ young artists participated in the Summer Music Experience, culminating in a finale concert attended by more than 5,000 community members celebrating Memphis youth talent. Another 104 students completed internships and volunteer placements, gaining professional experience with organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Peer Power Foundation, and Knowledge Quest. Meanwhile, 1,350 students participated in free museum experiences, connecting with the music, history, and cultural legacy that shaped Memphis.
At Soulsville, we believe every young person deserves access to opportunities that inspire growth, creativity, and connection. Your support helps remove financial barriers to opportunity and gives more students access to meaningful, life-changing experiences that broaden horizons and empower the next generation of leaders, artists, and changemakers.
