At the event, the Soulsville Foundation will be selling copies of Written in Their Soul, a project that spotlights the talent of the Stax Records songwriters. The Soulsville Foundation carries the Stax Records legacy forward by ensuring the current and next generation perpetuate the R&B sound through music education. This year as the Stax Museum celebrates 20 years, Stax Records released Written in Their Soul, one of the most important behind-the-scenes music documentations of songwriting at Stax Records. The 7-CD box set is an all-new collection that brings together 146 demos from the Stax Records vaults highlighting the strength of the songwriting talent at the legendary label. The release was nominated for a GRAMMY Award in November in both the Best Album Notes and Best Historical Album categories. The songwriters represented include William Bell, Eddie Floyd, Deanie Parker, Bobby Manuel, and Henderson Thigpen, all of whom participated in a panel discussion at the Stax Museum on June 23, the day the CD box set became available.
